When the University of Oregon dropped wrestling in 2007, a lot
of people were pointing the finger at Nike. The athletic giant grew
out of the Eugene campus and with wrestling no longer sponsored at
the school, many called for the company to get out of wrestling
altogether.
It nearly did. But now Athlete Performance Solutions has brought
Nike Wrestling back into wrestling and the company is already
making an imprint on the sport once again. Iowa State alum and
current Grand View assistant Grant Turner is one of the big factors
in Nike's return to wrestling. With Turner and crew helping guide
Nike corporate in the right direction, Athlete Performance
Solutions is now the official gear provider of USA Wrestling and
the apparel provider of USA Wrestling events.
On Episode 340 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, we'll get
inside the company a little bit and see why some people are
changing their opinions on Nike. You won't be able to miss them in
Fargo.
