It's been a long time coming, but Mario Lopez is finally appearing on the Short Time Wrestling Podcast.

On Episode 198, we'll talk with Lopez, the current host of Extra, the Hollywood celebrity news show seen pretty much on every TV in the civilized world. Lopez was a high school wrestling state placewinner from one-class California back in 1991 for Chula Vista High School just south of San Diego.

Lopez started wrestling under Mexican Olympian Gabriel Ruiz and wrestled under San Diego theater legend Bill Virchis, who also doubled as Chula Vista's wrestling coach. Lopez talks about his time wrestling through his senior year with essentially no practice while shooting Saved By The Bell, where he played A.C. Slater.

We'll talk about the wrestling correlations between the Slater character and Lopez, what he remembers about wrestling in high school and how much he still loves the sport. You might be surprised to find out where Lopez, not his kids' show alter ego Slater, ALMOST wrestled in college.

We'd teased we were having a big guest coming on Short Time for Episode 196, but Hollywood had to reschedule. I am pleased to let you know the guest for Episode 196 is extremely relevant and important to the development of wrestling and his story is fascinating.

Asnage Castelly represents the ENTIRE Haitian wrestling team. He's the head of their wrestling federation and the only athlete. He's coordinated all this while serving in the U.S. military and bouncing between the U.S. and Haiti with his wife and young child.

At 37, Castelly's career is likely coming to a close, at least on the wrestling mat. A Division II wrestler at American International in Springfield, Mass., Castelly recently competed in the Pan Am Games in Greco-Roman. He'll be the first Haitian wrestler to compete at the World Championships when he steps on the mat in men's freestyle (yes, he's wrestled both styles).

Castelly is working to build a school and bring wrestling to Haiti, which shares the island of Hispanola with the Dominican Republic, a nation with a more organized and a modest amount of success at the Pan American level.

Coleman Scott was a multiple-time high school state champion in wrestling-rich Western Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school, he chose Oklahoma State, where he'd go on to win an NCAA championship and place four times at the Division I tournament.

On Episode 195 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, we'll talk with Coleman Scott, the new head coach at the University of North Carolina. We'll talk with Scott about his memorable high school career, remembering the late Ty Moore, a memorable match from the Beast of the East in 2003 and what he's looking forward to the most in trying to revive North Carolina's wrestling program.

What's the transition been like in the short time he's been on the job, first as an interim coach and now as "the guy?" Find out now on SHORT TIME!

Episode 194 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast talks with two-time All-American and Ohio native David Habat, the 2015 NCAA Division I runner-up at 149 pounds for Edinboro.

Before we get rolling with the Edinboro graduate, United World Wrestling is looking for a media assistant at the World Championships in Las Vegas. You can send a resume and short introduction letter to Tim Foley at press@unitedworldwrestling.org to inquire about the position. Travel, room and stipend are all covered. Yeah, that's kind of a big deal.

Back to Habat, who initially chose Edinboro because he remembered watching Gregor Gillespie defeat Dustin Schlatter at the NCAA Championships back when they were in Auburn Hills.

Habat also recently moved to the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club in Ann Arbor, Mich., and will be wrestling for Slovenia at the upcoming World Championships in Las Vegas. Yes, SLOVENIA. Find out how deep Habat's Slovenian roots are and how well he can speak the language as we have a highly-entertaining chat with Habat ... and it's pronounced like habit.

Zack Rey was recently named to the 2015 U.S. men's freestyle World Team set to compete at the World Championships in September.

On Episode 193 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, I'll talk with Rey about his feelings and mindset going into the World Championships after replacing World Team Trials champion and two-time World medalist Tervel Dlagnev at 125kg.

Rey, a New Jersey native, breaks down the experience in the last several weeks, including the Pan Am Games, where he was a late replacement for Dlagnev.

The three-time All-American and 2011 NCAA champion from Lehigh also breaks down how he ended up at Lehigh, why he chose wrestling over football and also some fantastic strategy for potty training your kids. No, seriously.

On Episode 192 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, I'll speak with one of the main speakers from the NWCA CEO Leadership Academy, Kathy DeBoer.

DeBoer is a longtime collegiate volleyball coach and the current Executive Director of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. DeBoer brings an intriguing and dynamic take on what the differences are between coaching men and women and how wrestling coaches can take what she's learned over the years and apply it to coaching both genders.

DeBoer also explains how she once believed there was no difference in the habits of men and women when it came to sports. She's a convert and she'll tell you why. She'll recap some of her presentation and what the Olympic sports coaches associations are doing to help preserve their sports on the college level

Some of the big topics of discussion at the NWCA Convention always happen around the Division I breakout sessions. On Episode 191 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, I'll talk with the Executive Director of the National Wrestling Coaches Association Mike Moyer on a number of topics that came out of the annual convention in Fort Lauderdale.

Moyer broke down a few topics of importance, such as the NWCA Board of Directors being restructured, the continued importance on the Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) and of course, the future of the National Duals.
