Notre Dame College's Joey Davis is closing in on history. On Episode 240 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, Davis talks about his undefeated career thus far and what it's been like going through college without a loss and eyeing a fourth Division II championship.

A two-time state champion from Compton, Calif., Davis chose Notre Dame College, a now nine-year-old program just outside of Cleveland, Ohio. He talked about the recruiting process, what other schools he was considering and when he opted to stop talking about transferring.

Davis had a unique upbringing, playing multiple sports and only focusing on wrestling after he graduated from high school. He also talked about the real story was behind growing up in Compton, which is portrayed in the media as a gang-ridden, crime-filled area of Southern California. Some true, some not.

And he's got a little history with Snoop Doggy Dogg.

National champion wrestler and coach Jim Gibbons joins the Short Time Wrestling Podcast for Episode 239.

Gibbons is seen and heard with his broadcast partner Tim Johnson on the Big Ten Network and also does work with ESPN for wrestling commentary. He's known for some trademark phrases like laces up, among others.

We'll talk with Gibbons about his early start in wrestling, his career at Iowa State and wrestling under legendary coach Harold Nichols and his quick ascension into coaching, which ultimately led him to coaching a national team championship at Iowa State.

Gibbons touches on his relationship with Randy Lewis and some general takeaways from this college wrestling season, including Jason Nolf's win over Isaiah Martinez and the decision for Kyle Snyder to wrestle this season for Ohio State.

Cary Kolat finally won his first dual as the head wrestling coach at Campbell University. On Episode 238 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, Kolat talks about his Camel wrestlers breaking a 21-match losing streak and what the program is doing to come from the bottom of the Division I totem pole.

Kolat will break down some things the program has had to jump through in his first two years in Buies Creek and how soon he might think the program can jump into the top 20 at the NCAA Division I championships.

Kolat also recaps the Flowrestling documentary from earlier this season and then he becomes the guinea pig for a new feature on Short Time ... called "Short Time." Go figure.

Despite being the only program to earn individual national championships since becoming a four-year institution, Anderson University in South Carolina announced on January 6 it would be dropping its wrestling program.

On Episode 236 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, we had a chance to talk with Anderson University Athletic Director Bill D'Andrea to try to get to the bottom of why. D'Andrea cited a number of reasons and answered questions that surrounded the nature of the drop, including why the invitation from the newly-formed ECAC Division II Wrestling Conference was rejected.

There are still many questions regarding why and lack of conference affiliation, which was cited by the school, still remains the flimsiest of reasons considering the landscape of Division II wrestling.

What can be done to save the program?

Blistering through the Midlands was what you might have expected Andrew Long to do -- maybe four years ago. After a series of incidents, some of which included jail time, it appeared the two-time All-American's time on the wrestling mat was done.

But enter Grand View University, an NAIA program in Des Moines, Iowa and another, and perhaps final chance, for Long. On Episode 233 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, we'll talk with Long about his sordid past, leaving Iowa State, leaving Penn State and finally arriving in a new place both mentally and physically.

Long was named the Outstanding Wrestler and Champion of Champions at the 2015 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships. He'll break down the changes in his life and why he's finally enjoying wrestling again.
