After spending the last seven years on the sidelines as an assistant coach at Chattanooga and Old Dominion, Jon Sioredas is now a Division I head wrestling coach. On August 22, Grand Canyon University announced Sioredas would become the second head wrestling coach in school history and he’ll be leading the Lopes into a new era as they prepare for Division I competition. Sam Shames recently wrapped up his career at MIT as a four-time All-American at the NCWA level. Despite MIT dropping wrestling to club status prior to his arrival on campus, Shames wrestled four years for coach Tom Layte. He’s now using his degree in Material Science and Engineering to launch a start-up company with a few other MTI grads.
