A different episode of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast as this gives a full audio rundown of Day 1 at the Asian Championships from my perspective as the television commentator. All the coughs and hacks and conversation that is surrounding is included. There's also narrative points after the first six matches during the awards ceremony. It's a long session, but a look into how some things happen when the mics aren't on.

Tony Hager wasn't exactly looking to carve out a career in wrestling media. Rather, it was his time away from the sport combined with an idea to do something to help people like him understand what was going on around his favorite teams that launched him into the sport's coverage wing.

On Episode 504 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, I talk with Hager about the foundation of IAwrestle.com and the new brand of content you'll see on Takedown Wrestling Media, also known as Takedown Radio. Hager catches us up to speed about what's going on with the ownership of the longtime radio program and what the relationship is with ASM and The Open Mat.

PROMO NOTE: The first few minutes of the show focus on the new offering from Mat Talk Online called ROCKED UP, which focuses on the story of Little Rock's Division I Wrestling program.

Making his second appearance on the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, Clackamas Community College head coach Josh Rhoden talks about his school's third NJCAA national championship and the first since 2011. Rhoden's teams have won multiple National Duals titles, but after several years of second-place finishes, the Cougars climbed back to the top of the NJCAA.

Rhoden talks about being "ballers on a budget," in terms of fundraising for travel at the junior college level. Why his squad didn't got to the National Duals this year, the rivalry with NEO and some of the relevant situations junior colleges have within the landscape of college wrestling.

If you don't know much about the NJCAA or wrestling in the Pacific Northwest, this one's for you. If you DO know something about the NJCAA and wrestling in the Pacific Northwest, this one's ALSO for you.

Episode 502 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast is with Lock Haven two-time All-American Chance Marsteller.

We talk about the start of college competition, which in Marsteller's case, began by entering the Penn State Open as an eighth grader, how he got introduced to wrestling, when he decided to start focusing heavily on wrestling and the pressure that followed him through high school. He'll also explain his college selection and what went into choosing Oklahoma State after initially committing to Penn State. He'll also explain the issues he had with life in Stillwater before leaving to head home to Lock Haven, 160 miles from where he grew up.

Marsteller takes us through his choices and consequences and what ultimately led to his final two years placing on the podium for Lock Haven. He also explains what makes him the happiest in the world, his fiance and two children.

Drew Foster became the first NCAA Division I champion from Northern Iowa since 2000 when he topped Cornell's Max Dean in the finals at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh at 184 pounds.

On Episode 501 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, I'll talk with Foster about his rise from a sub-.500 wrestler as a freshman, to his All-American finish as a sophomore and his final season, which saw him best an opponent who'd already beaten him twice.

He'll explain what it's like wrestling in Iowa and why Northern Iowa is Iowa's team.

Episode 500 brings back a previous guest as Emma Randall of Beat The Streets New York is back on the Short Time Wrestling Podcast. Randall, the only woman who holds a gold-level coaching status by USA Wrestling, left Colorado Springs last summer to take over as the Girls Development Coordinator for Beat The Streets New York. The Ohio native and Lock Haven graduate talks about the recent US win over India in the Hollywood vs. Bollywood dual hosted by Beat The Streets LA among other things.

One of the focal points of this episode is the Cliff Keen Gotham City Girls Open, set for Pratt Institute in Brooklyn on April 19-20. Randall explains the dynamic of the tournament and why it's an important event, not just for the New York area's development, but for girls of all wrestling age groups.
