North Carolina's Troy Heilmann was highly regarded coming out of
New Jersey's South Plainfield High School. A three-time state
finalist and four-time placewinner, he chose to compete at North
Carolina for then coach C.D. Mock and head assistant Cary
Kolat.
On Episode 423 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, Heilmann talks
about the journey from a middling middleweight at North Carolina to
All-American, earning a fourth-place finish in his final trip to
the NCAA Division I Championships. The senior talks about the
coaching change and how he bought into Coleman Scott's attitude and
how he jumped from a .500 record to the podium.
