Episode 434 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast approaches the
situation at Division II Truman State University in Missouri with
its Athletic Director Jerry Wollmering.
On May 2, the school announced it was going to cut wrestling and
men's tennis as a cost-cutting measure to help combat cuts in
funding school-wide. We'll ask Wollmering why the coaches of the
respective teams weren't given the opportunity first to raise
funds, what any potential timeline looks like and how this decision
impacts students in Missouri and its conference mates within the
Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Is TSU's cost-effective education to blame? Will there be a chance
to reverse this decision? There's a lot of questions still yet to
be answered, but here's where we start.
