In 1999, Morehead High School wrestling coach David Barker ran the Morehead Booster Club wrestling tournament in the border town of Eden, North Carolina. In 2000, the tournament became the Super 32 Challenge with the idea of bringing the top North Carolina high school wrestlers to one tournament.
