Episode 213 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast heads back to
North Carolina where Dave Barker and Sara Koenig of the Super 32
Challenge will break down this year's event and talk about the
growth from last year to this year.
Last year's episode featuring the pair, available
here, is the most downloaded episode of the Short Time
Wrestling Podcast. They're going to try to break their record.
With nearly 2,400 entries over three divisions and the high school
division nearing 1,600, the Super 32 went from being a small
booster-run club tournament back in 1999 to the nation's absolute
best preseason wrestling tournament. This thing is straight up
massive and awesome in terms of competition.
SIDE RANT: It's also come to my attention that the
Atlanta Journal Constitution, one of the largest papers in the
country and one of the biggest in the Southeast, won't be covering
the NWCA All-Star Classic because the paper focuses on things that
get page views. Well, here's your chance to help out coverage in
the state that's seen college teams pop up with men's and women's
programs. E-mail Sports Editor Ray.Cox@ajc.com and respectfully
present why the AJC should cover this event and why it's important
to the Georgia community AND to their readers. This is especially
for those of you living within the AJC coverage area or those who
have read the newspaper in the past. My pleas are now going
unanswered, so now it's your turn to help move the needle and show
the AJC that college wrestling, a unique event like this coming to
Georgia, is WORTH their time and the minimal cost it takes to cover
the event.
