Gary Abbott is approaching the 30-year mark as the Director of Communications and Special Projects at USA Wrestling. With the Marine Corps U.S. Open coming up this weekend in Las Vegas, it's a busy time for the entire USA Wrestling staff.

Abbott talks about his foundations in wrestling media, working with his college coach Carl Adams with the Wrestling Masters magazine, and the evolution of wrestling coverage in the era before the internet to the 2001 purchase of TheMat.com.

Abbott also fields questions about the new media regulations requiring members to pass a background check and undergo SafeSport training before being allowed to cover USA Wrestling events.

The Short Time Time Wrestling Podcast is proudly supported by Compound Clothing.
